Airtel challenges adventure heroes with mobile gaming
Introduces First Person Mobile Role Play Gaming to Sri Lanka

Available over any Airtel mobile handset

November 1, 2011, Colombo, Adventure seekers, you are invited to an inaugural party at a jungle resort by your friend. As you are speeding in your car it starts raining and within a few minutes it starts pouring down heavily. Even with the wipers and fog lights the visibility is very poor. Since the road is very rough you are driving very cautiously as you don't want to get stuck in the jungle. Ahead you see the road branching into 2…

You can Press 1 to take the left turn, press 2 to remain in the car or press 3 to take the right turn.” So begins the introduction to Treasure Hunt, the first game of the Mission Calls series, launched by Airtel Lanka.

Welcome to the world of First Person Mobile Role Playing Games – for the first time in Sri Lanka.

Available exclusively over any Airtel mobile handset, the game invites customers to experience adventure gaming entirely over Interactive Voice Response technology. To play “Treasure Hunt” customers simply dial 1414 on their Airtel, select the language they want to play the game in, and start playing.

Described by Charith de Chickera, Head – Brand & Communications as the “mobile successor to actual adventure sports and treasure hunts”, he continues, “the game has unfathomable character customization, challenging decisions, and an abundance of gritty, intense storylines. It does more than just appeal to our young customers – it speaks to them, quite literally. With real sound effects, terrifying thrills and inescapable shock value, the compelling combination of all of this is that unlike normal RPG’s that require a computer to play; “Treasure Hunt” can be played over any Airtel mobile handset.”

The goal of Airtel Mission Calls is to stay alive and use keen decision making prowess to escape, avert, race through, tackle, challenge and defy obstacles and interruptions along the way. With easy, numeric keypad controls Airtel Mission Calls takes entertainment to all age groups. Available as an update in the near future, the multi-player functionality will allow players to venture into Sri Lankan gaming history!

Players will be rewarded for each stage of the game completed and 10 players daily who complete the game in the fastest time will win reloads courtesy of Airtel Lanka. The winners and their timings will also be uploaded on the Airtel Lanka Facebook page allowing players to view the highest scores of the day and attempt to break into the top 10. Airtel Lanka also hopes to add more games to the portal in the near future.
