Airtel empowers customers with Complimentary Safety Alerts
A first of its kind service launched in conjunction with the Ministry of Disaster Management
 
All Airtel customers can now receive up-to-date information on all global inclement weather conditions and natural disasters free of cost
 
To subscribe, customers simply type FSACT<space>SA on their Airtel mobile, and forward to 7544
 
 
May 26, 2011, Colombo, Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecommunications company, today launched its Complimentary Safety Alert Service. Launched in conjunction with the Ministry of Disaster Management, all Airtel customers who subscribe to the service can now experience up-to-date alerts on potential threats to human safety ranging from inclement weather patterns to natural disasters in Sri Lanka and the rest of the world.

A first of its kind, this free of cost sms based service may be accessed by all Airtel customers, by simply typing FSACTSA on their Airtel mobile and forwarding to 7544.

Commenting on the launch, Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Disaster Management said, “Airtel’s introduction of the Safety Alert Service comes at an opportune moment whereby for the first time in Sri Lanka, all Sri Lankans can stay abreast of erratic weather conditions and natural disasters, and take timely preventative measures to protect themselves and their families. Far reaching initiatives of this kind which drive social well being are very welcome and we would like to thank Airtel for launching this complimentary service for the benefit of the general public.”
