Airtel introduces simplicity to the data recharge market

  • Empowers customers with fuss-free recharges and activation experience for data services
  • No speed throttling
  • Allows customers to simply dial short code *550# to check data credit balance
  •

December 1, 2011, Colombo, Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced the launch of its new data top up cards for its prepaid customers. With this, customers will now be able to visit any of Airtel’s 40,000 plus outlets across the country and choose from a variety of denominations to recharge their mobile data usage with no configuration or subscription codes required. These new data top up cards follow a simple activation process and will thus deliver the convenience for customers to recharge their data usage or easily check their check data credit balances by dialing *550#

Available in 4 denominations between Rs. 45 to Rs. 799, the top ups mean that value for money really does go beyond pure monetary savings and extends to the range of denominations on offer to customers.

Commenting on the launch of the new data recharges for Airtel prepaid customers in Sri Lanka, Sharan Shetty, Head, Sales & Marketing – Sri Lanka, Bharti Airtel said, “At Airtel, it is our constant endeavour to introduce products and services that are innovative, affordable and relevant to our customers. Airtel’s new prepaid data recharge cards will offer our customers top up options based on their consumption needs. This is only bettered by that fact that any existing airtel prepaid sim can be used and on any handset, smart phone or dongle. With this, Airtel prepaid mobile customers will not only be able to dial a simple shortcode to access their data balance, but also buy prepaid cards in advance without worrying about any expiry on date of activation.”

The simplicity of this data top-up is such that once the Airtel sim card is inserted into the device, there is no need to change Access Point Numbers (APN). This plug & play mechanism eliminates the need to register by SMS and instead allows customers to reload with the range of data cards and “live online”.

To use Airtel’s new data prepaid top up cards and experience the power of mobile internet in your pocket, customers can now walk into their nearest Airtel retail outlet.
